Nguyen Filip cannot rematch his old opponent
Slavia Prague Club is present in Vietnam to prepare for a friendly match with Nguyen Filip’s Hanoi Police Club (CAHN Club), in the match taking place at 7:00 p.m. today (December 18). This is part of a series of events celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic. Slavia Prague is the most traditional football team in the Czech Republic, possessing many famous players in its squad, including Ivan Schranz, co-top scorer of EURO 2024.
With 3 goals scored in Slovakia, Schranz became the joint top scorer at EURO 2024 along with Harry Kane, Cody Gakpo, Dani Olmo, Jamal Musiala and Georges Mikautadze. The Slovak striker has had important goals, notably scoring against England in the round of 16 of EURO 2024, after Slovakia passed a difficult group with Belgium, Ukraine and Romania.
In particular, Schranz spent many years playing in the Czech Republic championship with Slavia Prague. He once faced goalkeeper Nguyen Filip, a goalkeeper who also had 8 years of experience in the Czech Republic in the colors of Slovan Liberec and Slovacko. Talking about his old opponent, Schranz commented: “Nguyen Filip is a quality goalkeeper, and a likable guy. He has a very high class, as well as a rich career in the Czech Republic.”
The former EURO 2024 top scorer also sent his wishes to Nguyen Filip, after learning that the 32-year-old goalkeeper is joining the Vietnamese team on the field at the AFF Cup 2024: “I hope everything good will come to Nguyen Filip and the team.” Vietnam. Wish him lots of luck. For me, Nguyen Filip is always a very good player.”
Talking about the moment he scored against England at EURO, Nguyen Filip affirmed that it was “an unforgettable memory even though that goal could not help Slovakia advance”.
While Schranz will join Slavia Prague in a friendly match with CAHN Club at Hang Day Stadium tonight, the Vietnamese team will also face the Philippines at 8:00 p.m. as part of the fourth match of Group B AFF Cup 2024. A victory will help Nguyen Filip and his teammates reached the semi-finals with first place one match early.
Over the past 70 years, Vietnam and the Czech Republic have established a solid relationship foundation in the spirit of respect and friendly cooperation in many fields. As one of the earliest countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, the Czech Republic plays a huge role in promoting extensive diplomatic and economic integration with Vietnam.
With the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the event is a testament to how diplomatic engagement will create a foundation to promote common development, contributing to building a brighter future for both countries.
