Famous tabla player and composer Ustad Zakir Hussain passed away at the age of 73. He breathed his last in a hospital in San Francisco, America. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the demise of Ustad Zakir Hussain.
PM Modi posted on social media X and wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of famous tabla player Ustad Zakir Hussain ji. He will be remembered as a true genius who revolutionized the world of Indian classical music. He mesmerized millions of people with his unique rhythm and took Tabla to the global stage. Through this, he seamlessly blended Indian classical traditions with global music, thus becoming a symbol of cultural unity. His iconic performances and soulful compositions will contribute to inspiring generations of musicians and music lovers alike. My condolences to his family, friends and the global music community.”
On the death of Zakir Hussain, singer Anup Jalota said, “Zakir Hussain was not only an Indian artist but he was an international artist. Be it a band of Australia, China, Japan, England, America or Africa, he was a hero in every band. He became an artist of the whole world. He was a wonderful person and very humble. He was two years older than me so I used to touch his feet and as soon as I touched his feet, he used to touch mine. This was his nature, he was a great person. I would like to say that such an artist will not come again…”
On the death of tabla player Zakir Hussain, Indian singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan said, “Today is a very sad day, I have lost my Guru today… He was a very great artist, I will pray to God for his family to give him strength.” Give.”
