Pension For Old Tree: In a part of the country, every 75 year old tree is getting an annual pension of Rs 2750. It may sound a bit strange, but according to recent news, 20 trees have been approved for pension. Such news is coming from Haryana, a state adjacent to the country’s national capital Delhi. Haryana government had announced to give pension to 75 year old trees under its unique scheme. The name of this special scheme launched by the Haryana Government with the aim of promoting tree plantation and ensuring the care of plants is Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme.
Under Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Yojana, started on the lines of Old Age Pension, pension of 20 trees has been approved in the first phase. Now the Haryana government has started working rapidly on this scheme. The process of giving pension to 75 year old trees in the state under the Pran Vayu Devta Scheme is going on on first come, first serve basis. 75 year old trees are getting pension in Haryana
Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Pension Scheme was started 3 years ago. The foundation of the pension scheme for 75-year-old trees in the state was laid by the then Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in 2021 on the special occasion of World Environment Day on June 5. Under this scheme, an initiative was taken to give pension to those who take care and nurture trees above 75 years of age. Initially, under the scheme, an annual pension of Rs 2500 was announced for trees older than 75 years. During the launch of the scheme, it was told that the pension amount of old age respect pension will be increased. Haryana is the first state in the country to implement this type of scheme. This scheme has been implemented by the government to protect and conserve old trees.
How to apply
If a person has a tree of 75 years of age or more in his house or on his own land, then he can apply by going to the Forest Department office of his respective district, after which that application will be assessed by a committee. If all the standards are found to be fulfilled during verification, then the beneficiary will be given pension from trees. Under the Haryana Pran Vayu Devta Scheme, the pension amount is to be received directly into the account of the beneficiary on whose land there is a tree.
