The game will be available from February 11, 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series
2K and Firaxis Games today debuted the opening cinematic for Sid Meier’s Civilization VII at The Game Awards 2024. The event featured a live orchestral performance featuring original music composed by Grammy Award winner Christopher Tin. The film, narrated by actress Gwendoline Christie (known for her roles in “Game of Thrones” and “Star Wars”), takes viewers on a journey through the ages. The story begins with a farmer’s discovery of a rusty cutlass. The weapon passes from generation to generation, crossing different cultures and regions of the world, symbolizing one of the key themes of the game: the gradual construction of history.
In addition to the cinematic, the main theme song for Civilization VII, titled “Live Gloriously”, was also presented. Composer Christopher Tin said he wanted to capture the universal themes of hope, heroism and mortality that permeated the story, using lyrics from classic works such as the Iliad, Beowulf, Popol Vuh and the Ramayana to give a sense of gravity and emotion. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will be available February 11, 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac and Linux via Steam.
