Abu Dhabi positions itself as a future hub in the gaming sector with the announcement of a significant investment by Beam Ventures. The company has in fact launched a 150 million dollar fund with the aim of supporting the development of promising game studios. This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at consolidating the city as a nerve center for the global gaming industry.
A central element of this operation is the integration of an accelerator program, focused on emerging start-ups in the dynamic context of web3 gaming and artificial intelligence (AI). The program will offer both in-person and remote participation options, thus expanding accessibility to a vast panorama of innovative realities.
Beam Ventures stands out as the first qualified investment fund with a specific focus on gaming based in Abu Dhabi. While it has not yet finalized investments in game studios, its primary mission is to fuel the growth of start-ups with high potential to impact the gaming industry and related sectors, with a particular focus on the intersection of AI and video games.
The vision of Abu Dhabi as a strategic hub for gaming was reiterated by Mark Borsten, Chief Strategy Officer of Beam Ventures, who underlined the importance of innovation as a driving force behind the initiative: “Innovation has always been our driving force and our North Star – which is why we are thrilled to bring our pursuit of innovation to Abu Dhabi, a city that has proven time and time again that it shares our approach.”
The belief that Abu Dhabi will establish itself as an epicenter for technological and gaming innovation in the coming years is shared by the main players involved. HE Saeed Al Fazari, executive director for strategic affairs of the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourismhighlighted the efforts made in recent years to build a solid gaming infrastructure in the city:“Over the past three years, we have built a robust gaming infrastructure in Abu Dhabi and the establishment of a dedicated gaming fund is a critical step in ensuring this ecosystem continues to thrive.”
