In the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly, BJP has 132 MLAs, Shiv Sena has 57 and NCP has 41. This means that the BJP needs only one of its two allies to reach the magic figure of 145 in the 288-member Assembly. Due to this, Eknath Shinde has very few chances to bargain for the post of Chief Minister.
While the BJP leadership is deliberating over who will get the big post, a group of Shiv Sena leaders had planned to gather outside Varsha, the chief minister’s official bungalow, in an apparent show of strength for Eknath Shinde. As a. But the Shiv Sena chief intervened and asked him not to do so. Through a post on social media platform X, he said that after the big victory of the Mahayuti alliance, our government will be formed once again in the state. We fought the elections together as a grand alliance and are together even today. Because of their love for me, some people have appealed to everyone to come together and come to Mumbai. I am very grateful for your love. But I appeal that no one should come together in my support like this.”

Amidst this suspense, Shiv Sena spokesperson Naresh Mhaske, citing ‘Bihar Model’, said that Eknath Shinde should remain the Chief Minister, even if BJP has more seats in the Assembly. Shiv Sena spokesperson said in a statement that we feel Shinde should be the Chief Minister, just like the BJP in Bihar did not pay attention to the numbers and still made JDU leader Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister. Senior leaders of Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra will take the final decision on this. He also gave the example of Haryana, where BJP chose the current Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini.
However, BJP’s Pravin Darekar said that people have given mandate to Devendra Fadnavis. The people of Maharashtra stand with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He kept the alliance together, gave candidates to our allies and even backed down when necessary. He has always maintained coordination. It is believed that RSS will celebrate its centenary next year and wants a BJP Chief Minister.
