Edgemony, a Sicilian company specializing in digital training, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), announces the launch of the second edition of the Cloud Academy. The initiative, entirely financed by AWS re/Start, offers 25 young people the opportunity to specialize for free in cloud computing, a rapidly expanding sector that is crucial for the digital economy. The 12-week program is aimed at unemployed, NEETs and technology enthusiasts residing in Sicily, with the aim of bridging the digital skills gap in the region and promoting youth employment, with particular attention to female participation in a sector where women are underrepresented.
The choice to invest in this training area responds to a growing demand for cloud computing professionals, also highlighted by market data. In 2023, the cloud market in Italy recorded a growth of 19%, reaching a value of 5.51 billion euros. Globally, Gartner predicts a 20.4% growth in spending on public cloud services in 2024. Despite the opportunities offered by this sector, there is a significant skills gap globally: in 2021, compared to 7, 8 million open positions in cloud computing, there were only 2.8 million professionals available.
Edgemony’s Cloud Academy aims to train a new generation of cloud computing experts, offering an intensive path that includes lectures, mentoring sessions, practical activities and preparation for AWS certifications. Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to fill roles such as Cloud Engineer, Cloud Architect and System Administrator. “The results obtained with the first edition confirmed the importance of investing in the training of young Sicilian talents”, commented Daniele Rotolo, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Edgemony. “Thanks to the collaboration with AWS, we are creating a virtuous ecosystem that generates opportunities for participants and value for the territory.” To apply for one of the 25 scholarships you must complete the form available on the Edgemony website.
