Two athletes died this Thursday while testing for the finals of the triathlon World Series in Torremolinos (Málaga), as reported by the organization. The deceased are two men, triathletes who competed in the sprint age group category; one from the United Kingdom and the other from Mexico. Both have died in separate incidents, the British, in the race, and the Mexican, in the swimming test. In the case of the man who was running, the 112 Emergency service received a call alerting that there was a person passed out on the Paseo Marítimo of Torremolinos around 4:15 p.m. The deceased, 57 years old, had suffered cardiac arrest during the competition.

The World Champion has conveyed “her deepest condolences” to the respective families, friends, National Federations and “the entire triathlon family.” They have also reported that World Triathlon, the Spanish Federation and the local Organizing Committee “are in contact with their families to provide all the necessary support in these difficult and sad times.”
