The ground assault has not yet been launched, but the Israeli army is increasing pressure on the Gaza Strip. Late Friday, its elite troops supported by armor carried out several raids inside Palestinian territory. The objective, according to an army spokesperson, was to locate Israeli hostages and fight “terrorist cells and infrastructure, including a post from which anti-tank missiles were fired towards Israeli territory“. During the Hamas attack on Saturday October 7, the security barrier which entirely surrounded the Gaza Strip was opened in several places. During the week, the Israeli army placed hundreds of tanks around the border in order to regain control.
Friday evening, sirens sounded in Ashkelon and Ashdod, and the explosions of Iron Dome, the Israeli anti-missile system, were heard in these two cities…
