G is a 24 hour digital bureau: Citing lack of cooperation from India, Afghanistan’s embassy in India announced on Saturday night that it is suspending its operations here from October 1. The Afghan embassy said in a statement that it regretted the decision. An official statement said, “It is with great sadness and disappointment that the Embassy of Afghanistan in New Delhi announces this decision to close its operations.”
What is the reason?
The embassy in its statement listed several reasons why the mission could not be conducted effectively and said that these were the main reasons behind this unfortunate decision. Issued a statement, they alleged that it lacked vital support from the host country due to which they could not function effectively. The embassy also said that they could not meet expectations in serving Afghanistan’s interests. Afghan officials say they are not getting support from the Indian government.

The embassy said it had also informed the Indian Ministry of External Affairs about the decision to close its embassy in New Delhi. They also requested the central government of India to protect the interests of Afghans living, working, studying, doing business and participating in various activities in India, they said.

All these services will continue
In announcing the embassy closure, the Afghan embassy cited challenges such as lack of manpower and resources. It is also known that there has been frustration as diplomats’ visas have not been renewed on time. Emergency consular services for Afghan nationals will continue until the host country’s embassy is relocated, the statement said.
