The 2024 Paris Olympic Games have become the main sporting activity around the world for next year, so many hotels in the capital of France have made the decision to increase the prices of their rooms by up to 15 times their valuewith the aim of ensuring high income for the maximum sports competition that is expected to gather around 13 million viewers every day that it will take place.
There is less than a year to go before the 2024 Paris Olympic Games begin and in some accommodation search portals you can already see the high costs that they have placed the hotels to be able to get a room during the competitions; According to the information provided by the EFE news agency and confirmed by the Le Parisien newspaper, some hotels increased their costs by up to 1,500%.
One of the ones that increased its value the most was the Saint-Marc, a four-star hotel located in the II district of Paris (in the heart of the city); an executive room in this building has a regular value of $300 per night. However, reserving that same space during the summer dates of 2024 (the time when the Olympic Games will be held) has an estimated value of $4,500 dollars.
A hotel further from the center is the two-star La Perle Montparnasse; during this month of August 2023 a night has a value of $95 dollars, while in 2024 during one of the weeks of the Paris Olympic Games it will raise its costs to almost $1,000 dollars a night. In a place quite close to this hotel is the Eiffel Segur, an establishment that charges $140 a night for a single room and that next summer will raise its prices to $5,200 dollars (almost 40 times its usual value).
The last hotel consulted by both media was the three-star Ibis Place d’Italie, which maintains a cost of $120 dollars a night on the standard date, while for the 2023 Paris Olympic Games it will raise its costs to $700 dollars for be able to get more profit.
This fact has generated a strong reaction from all those who want to visit the French capital during these games and support their respective delegations in the most anticipated sporting event.
Given this series of increases that have been recorded, The French government announced last July that from 2024 it will impose the obligation to indicate the rates on the website that have registered an abnormal increase in hotel accommodation.
