The Spanish Andrés Iniesta affirmed that he was presented this Wednesday as a new player of the Emirates Club of professional soccer in the United Arab Emirates and assured that he maintains his “illusion to continue enjoying soccer.”
“For me and my family it is a new challenge, a new chapter, a new ‘challenge’ in our lives. I come with all the illusion of the world, just like when I was in Barcelona or when I went to Japan. I am excited to continue enjoying football, ”said the legendary player of FC Barcelona and the Spanish team at the press conference for his presentation.
At an event held in the Emirati city of Ras al Khaimah, The 39-year-old midfielder said he will do everything possible “to help my teammates” and make Emirates FC “grow”.
Despite signing a one-year contract with the option to be renewed, the author of the goal that gave Spain its first Soccer World Cup in South Africa in 2010 is a bit anxious about retirement: “There are many other things apart from football that I am passionate about, such as training children, growing up in sports, in football. We have also had our academies for years and we want to continue to keep growing”, said the Spaniard.
When asked why he did not sign for Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets’ Inter Miami, he said that what convinced him the most was “the project” and “the desire” of the Emirati club to have him in their ranks.
