Martín Gonzáles, a 24-year-old driver, was rescued dead from the East River after his luxurious BMW car crossed a park in Queens (NYC) and fell into the water.
According to the New York police, Gonzáles drove through the Rainey Park of Astoriacrashed into a metal fence near 34th Ave. and Vernon Blvd. and kept going until he plunged his car into the East River around 3:30 am Sunday.
The white SUV was located in the river by NYPD shortly before 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The driver was dead inside and his body was brought to the Astoria Ferry pier.
Until yesterday It was not clear if Gonzáles suffered a medical episode, someone was chasing him or he drove into the river on purpose. He lived in Centereach, Long Island. “The family is devastated by the loss,” he told the Daily News an unidentified relative.

The New York authorities recall that there is zero tolerance for drivers who speed and/or drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
