The journalist of the Jogo Aberto program on TV Tribuna de Pernambuco Carlos Eduardo Silva used social networks to apologize to the public after falling into a live prank. During one of the last editions of the program, he informed the public that the German star, champion of the 2014 Cup, Toni Kroos, had praised Sport Recife midfielder Ronaldo Henrique, currently in Série B of the Brasileirão, and compared him to Casemiro. However, it was all just a montage.
On social networks, the midfielder of the German national team appears in a real interview, but his lines are altered to pretend that he watches the games of the Brazilian competition. After the fake lines, Carlos Eduardo, known as Vibrante, was excited about the supposed praise for the Brazilian player.
“The person who is interviewing asks: ‘speak an athlete that calls your attention, that you stand out’. He stopped, took a look and said: ‘I’m going to mention one that you probably don’t know, which is Ronaldo Henrique’. Then he started talking about Ronaldo’s qualities. Precise pass, perfect reversal of play, excellent penalty taker… When I watched it, I got goosebumps”, he said at the time.
However, with the repercussions of the prank, Vibrante asked for forgiveness when he realized that he had fallen into a joke. “It was pure innocence of this journalist here. There was no fact-finding. And finding out the fact is paramount and elementary in the role. I apologize to the viewers”, he commented.
The presenter denied that the failure was deliberate to generate more ratings for the program and spoke about the 26 years he has in the area to refute comments about this possibility.
“If credibility hadn’t been part of my journey, I wouldn’t have gotten here, but I accept all the criticisms made. Wisdom is not repeating the same mistake, and it won’t happen again.”
