Sivakasi:Calendar 2024 production in Sivakasi is going on in full swing due to Lok Sabha elections and increase in orders from political parties. Manufacturers have reported that the increase in electricity rates has led to a 5 percent increase in calendar prices.
More than 300 printing presses are functioning in Sivakasi district. Note book, diary, almanac, calendar are being produced here. The new album will be released on 18th Sivakasi Press and calendar production will begin. Then every year new patterns are introduced.
With the Lok Sabha elections next year, manufacturers are happy that this year’s calendar order is higher than usual. This year calendars are being prepared in various languages including Tamil, English, Malayalam. Calendars are produced in various shapes and colors like monthly calendar, daily calendar, table calendar, mini calendar, photo print calendar. As the next year’s calendar sales start in the first week of December, calendar production is also going on in Sivakasi.
5 percent price increase:Last year, due to the rise in raw material prices, the price of the daily calendar increased by 40 percent and the monthly calendar by 50 to 55 percent. This year the price has gone up by 5 percent due to wage hike and electricity tariff hike.
Regarding this, Tamil Nadu Calendar Manufacturers Association Secretary Jaishankar said: Last year, due to various reasons, calendar sales were affected by 15 percent. Currently, the price has increased by 5 percent due to the increase in electricity charges. With Lok Sabha elections coming up next year, the final phase of sales will accelerate.
