New Delhi: There has been no significant increase in the number of new Covid-19 cases in the country. According to figures released by the Union Health Ministry this morning, 18,132 Covid cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. The center said 21,563 people had been diagnosed with the disease and were recovering.
With 193 new Covid deaths reported, the country’s total death toll has risen to 4,50,782. There are 2,27,347 active cases pending in various states. An additional 21,563 people have been diagnosed with Covid, while 3,32,93,478 have so far recovered from Covid. So far, 95,19,84,373 people have been vaccinated against Covid, the Center said.
It is reassuring that the number of Covid cases in Kerala is declining. According to figures released by the state health department on Sunday, 10,691 new cases of covid were reported. Outbreaks were reported in Ernakulam 1639, Thrissur 1378, Thiruvananthapuram 1197, Kozhikode 976, Kottayam 872, Kollam 739, Malappuram 687, Kannur 602, Pathanamthitta 584, Palakkad 575, Idukki 558, Alappuzha 466, Wayanad 263 and Kasaragod 155. A total of 12,655 people who had been diagnosed and treated were cured. Today, it has been confirmed that 85 deaths in the last few days are due to Covid-19. This brings the total death toll to 26,258.
There are currently 3,61,495 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 3,48,743 are under home / institutional quarantine and 12,752 are under hospital surveillance. A total of 799 people were newly admitted to the hospital. 1,11,083 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 46,56,866 have so far been freed from Covid.
According to the Department of Health, 93.3 per cent of the vaccinated population received one dose of vaccine (2,49,39,899) and 43.7 per cent received two doses of vaccine (1,16,74,552). The state has given a single dose to 97 percent of people over the age of 45 and two doses to 62 percent. Of the 10,691 new patients, 8969 were eligible for vaccination, according to a report on Sunday. Of these, 2982 took one dose and 3321 took two doses. However, 2666 people were not reported to have received the vaccine. Kerala has the highest number of vaccinations / million in India (10,25,630).
