12 killed in Gujarat factory wall collapse


New Delhi: At least 12 workers were killed when a wall of a factory collapsed in Gujarat’s Morbi district. The accident took place at the Development Corporation (GIDC) salt factory in Gujarat Industry.

“Twelve people were killed in an accident at the Sagar Salt Factory in Falwad GIDC. We stand with the families of the victims.” Minister Brijesh Mirza said. The rescue operation is in progress.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the incident. “The tragedy of the wall collapse in Morbi is heartbreaking. I remember the grieving family members during this sad hour. May the injured be able to recover immediately. Local authorities are providing all possible assistance to the victims.” The Prime Minister tweeted.

“PMNRF will provide Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident and Rs 50,000 will be provided to the injured.” The PM’s office clarified the tweet.
