According to the police, 12 laborers were sleeping on the first floor of the scrap collection center of Shadwan traders and there was a fire on the ground floor. Central Zone DCP M Rajesh Chandra told that the only way out for the laborers was through the junk shop on the ground floor whose shutter was closed.

He was immediately taken to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

All workers are residents of Bihar
Hyderabad CP CV Anand said that one of the laborers managed to get out of the building. He is undergoing treatment. There was thick smoke due to fiber cables in the godown and the intensity of the fire kept increasing. A fire brigade official said that there were empty liquor bottles, paper, plastic and cables in the garbage godown. From the first floor an iron staircase was connected to the ground floor below. There were two rooms on the first floor and all the 11 bodies were recovered from one room. were lying on top of each other. The bodies cannot be identified. Police said most of the victims were migrant workers. The bodies of the victims were sent for postmortem.

Many people died due to smoke
All these laborers were residents of Chhapra district of Bihar. According to city police commissioner CV Anand, these laborers hailing from Chapra district were working on a monthly salary of Rs 12,000 for the last two years. All the laborers who died in the fire were in the age group of 20 to 30 years. “At around 4 pm, a cylinder exploded and we got a dial 100 call. Our night duty officers along with fire department personnel rushed to the spot. No one knows that the workers were living here. The owner seems to have provided them with a living space on the first floor above the junk warehouse. Many victims have died due to smoke.

He further told that a laborer managed to jump from the godown and narrowly escaped.
